Update: Hurricane Sandy Kicks My Ass!

Unlit Downtown Manhattan

Hey what’s up. You might have noticed that the blog has been a little light on posts since Monday night. This is owing to the fact that Hurricane Sandy came knocking, literally, on my front door. The buildings where I live on East 14th Street were hit very hard, with flooding in all basements. Not to mention, but you can see I am about to, the fact that we are located just half a block from the Con Ed transformer that exploded so spectacularly shortly before lower Manhattan was blanketed in darkness for days that, as of this writing, still have not seen a return of electricity to our homes.

Fortunately, no one in my community was injured and the water did not breach anyone’s interior space. But with no power, heat, hot water, land lines or cell service in the area, I have been unable to stay in my home. Kind friends living uptown, where life goes on as if Sandy never happened, have taken me in until the time that I can return to The Chickpad. I will keep you updated, and thanks everyone for your emails and messages of support. Hopefully the blog will be up and running again this coming week.
