This is an amazing ten minute video on the making of the greatest song ever in the universe of all time, “I’m Not In Love” by 10CC. Get ready to be enraptured by what they used to do in the recording studio before the guy who invented ProTools was even born.
This is amazing, though I would like to have heard the reasoning behind the “be quiet” whispers at the end.
What’s she saying, anyway? Sounds like “Be quiet, big boys don’t cry” but it may be something else.

Thanks for the comment. If you pay close attention to the video I believe they identify the “whisperer” as “Kathy, the studio’s secretary,” who is in fact saying “Be Quiet, Big Boys Don’t Cry.” I would have to guess that this vocal was added to emphasize the bottom line message of the song, that while the singer claims to be “not in love,” he is in fact quite heartbroken, and fighting back the tears.

I’ve been listening to “Silly Love” over and over this weekend…how appropriate to find this little gem on your blog. My all-time favorite 10cc song is “Feel The Benefit” with great Latin break in the middle and a phenomenal dueling guitar solo at the end. Those guys were geniuses.
