Sending Healing Vibes and Get Well Wishes to Ute Linhart

On Wednesday night of this week, Ute Linhart, a music industry friend of mine for over ten years, was violently assaulted when an insane maniac pushed her into a speeding subway train as it barreled into the station at 28th street and Broadway here in Manhattan. While she thankfully was not thrown onto the tracks, Ute suffered multiple broken bones including three broken ribs, her left arm broken in two places, facial fractures and a punctured lung, among other injuries. The New York Post has the more details on the truly horrifying story online at This Link.

The good news is that Ute is going to be OK and, thanks to witnesses in the subway, the attacker was apprehended and arrested. While what happened to Ute could not have been predicted, and was certainly a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, let’s all of us here in NYC who travel on the subway remember that there are some crazy nut jobs out there. Be careful in the subway, stand back from the platform edge and be aware of who is around you at all times. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Ute!

Update: The man who pushed Ute has been Sentenced to 15 Years Prison.

  1. Dear Insane Person: Next time, pick a child molester, rapist, wife beater, elderly-parent abuser, animal abuser or escaped Nazi war criminal. In other words, someone who deserves this shit.

  2. What a horrible story but I’m so glad to hear she’ll be okay. Yeah, I always liked to stand far from the edge because of something just like this! Sending healing vibes now : ) (and hell yeah, mysterious E)

  3. SO distressed to hear about this, Ute! Mark Abramson told me about this (thru facebook), and I passed it along to my former bandmates, and we’ve all been freaking out about it! 🙁

I know we haven’t been in touch for quite a while, but I have wondered more than once what you have been up to since we became friends through our Roadrunner/Blue Grape connection…

I’m wishing you a very speedy recovery, and I hope they throw the worthless asshat who did this into prison for 5 or 6 lifetimes!

Get well soon, and drop me a line! 🙂

  4. Ms. Linhart, our prayers and well wishes are with you. I know that nothing I or anyone says can take away the horror you’ve suffered. I don’t know your work and haven’t lived down by the city for some time. But I do understand the trauma suffered from being violently attacked and hope you realize that not all people have that meanness. You’re an incredibly beautiful woman blessed with amazing talent. Get well quickly so you can get back to doing what you do best. And next time, please do yourself a favor and take the bus!!! 🙂
