The Worleygig is proud to announce a Pink Thing that is not only awesomely pink but also benefits a very worthwhile cause. The Pinkburst Project, sponsored by Guitarist Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister, is a collection of one-of-a-kind, custom made guitars from a variety of leading instrument manufacturers including Gibson, Fender, Paul Reed Smith, Epiphone, Gretsch and Martin. There is also a matching collection of pink custom amps from Marshall, Fender, Vox, Mesa, Orange, Hartke and Diamond. All guitars and amplifiers will be offered for sale at an auction to be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 during the Skinner Fine Musical Instruments Auction in Boston, Massachusetts. View the full collection of individual guitars at This Link.

These stunningly beautiful guitars and amps have been built for sale at auction to create awareness of The Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation. Proceeds from sales will raise much-needed funds for research, education and support for those affected by Uveitis and other inflammatory eye diseases. Uveitis is the third leading cause of preventable blindness in the USA, and the leading cause of blindness of American girls.

Jay Jay’s daughter, Samantha was diagnosed  with Uveitis at age six during a routine eye exam at school. Samantha’s sight has been preserved through a cocktail of topical and systemic medications that her physician, Dr. Stephen Foster and his associated doctors at MERSI (Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution) in Cambridge, Massachusetts have carefully administered. Dr. Foster and his Foundation will benefit from the monetary proceeds of this auction.

Prior to the auction, a benefit concert, “The Pinkburst Project: An Evening with Twisted Sister and Friends benefiting the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation” will take place on Friday, April 29 at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. Tickets are $45 with, an American Express presale on Wednesday, January 26, and sale to the public starting on Friday, January 28 via Ticketmaster.com, Charge by Phone 800-745-3000, and (for no service charge) at the Best Buy Theater box office located at 1515 Broadway at W. 44th Street.

  1. Best write-up I’ve seen so far about the Pinkburst Project. Direct, to the point, informative and complete with a “human touch” that explains the importance of this concert, auction and cause.
