On This Date, May 17th in 1975: Elton John was awarded a Platinum Record for sales of One Million copies of his Ninth studio album, Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy. Captain Fantastic was the first album ever to be certified Platinum on the day of its release.
I love the final 2 songs “We All Fall in Love Sometimes” and “Curtains” soooooo much!
For starters, I’m in COMPLETE agreement with “G!” This was a landmark record, indeed. And it was perhaps the crowning jewel of Elton’s stellar cataloge! I can’t believe it’s been 37 years. It seems just like yesterday.
