Video Clip of The Week: “Mood For Love” By The Gitas

If there’s one thing we find irresistible here at The Gig (and, trust us, there are many) it’s energetic retro-pop with an almost imperceptible dark edge. In today’s featured Video Clip, we find all that, and more, delivered direct to you from LA’s The Gitas, a powerful rock trio formed in late 2014 who are already kicking ass and taking names on the live circuit.

Visually, this enhanced performance video captures a propulsive live set while also embellishing the playful, artistic mood with superimposed, hand-drawn animation — which lends that touch of malevolence that we find so captivating. According to a press blurb, “Mood For Love” is more upbeat and poppy, contrasting with the other songs from the album, which shine light on issues in society today, personal or political. Lead singer Sasha Cheremov explains, ‘Mood For Love’ may sound like a happy song, but in reality it is just about a relationship that has no spiritual core — just sort of a game, a bluff… a cheater’s paradise.” Excellent.

“Mood For Love” is the first single off of The Gita’s debut album, Garland, which was released in January of 2015Recommended if you dig The Strokes, White Stripes, or T Rex, The Gitas also features badass drummer Brittany Maccarello and bassist Sal Ramazzini. Enjoy!
