If you’ve walked into a Day Spa, a New Age book shop, or Asian Imports store, you might associate the memory with the calming aroma of essential oils. It’s no mystery why Aromatherapy  — a range of alternative or complementary therapies that use essential oils and other aromatic plant compounds — is so popular. Everyone loves an inviting scent,  and it’s easy to create a relaxing atmosphere in your home using incense, candles or an essential oil diffuser.  But sometimes you might want your aromatherapy to be a bit more personal and portable.  For those occasions, let me introduce you to Mood Food.

Essential oils have been used for nearly 6,000 years to improve mood, promote relaxation and reduce stress, among other psychological and physical benefits.

Mood Food Body Oils

Mood Food, created by Linda LaSala, is a line of aromatherapy products that are totally portable, TSA friendly, and fun to use.  An aromatherapy enthusiast herself, Linda harnessed her knowledge and passion to create a selection of great-smelling, stress relieving  balm sticks and essential oils that can go wherever you go. With this aromatherapy line, unlike perfume, it’s not so much about the scent as it is about what the scent does.

Softening, smoothing and quick to absorb, Mood Food Body Oils match the scents of their best selling Aromatherapy and Crystal Balms (more about those coming up). Hand mixed and poured, using organic base oils, in a gorgeous square bottle with a pump dispenser, Body Oils are a beautiful way to start or end the day.

Crystal Oils (which can be seen in the photo above) are set with the intention that matches the corresponding balm, and contain crystal flakes at the bottom of the bottle.

Mood Food also makes Crystal Balms, which contain crystals blended with pure essential oils in an organic and vegan base. These purse-sized balms are great way to experience the energetic power of crystals combined with aromatherapy for general relaxation and balance. There are of course different balms for different intentions, so you can choose the one that is right for you. Read more about Mood Food’s different Crystal Balms at This Link.

When I stopped in at Mood Food’s booth at the recent NY Now Summer Marketplace, I had the chance to meet and speak with Linda, who was super friendly and offered me a complimentary sample of Aromatherapy Balm (The OG, which is their most popular) to try myself. Since I work from home, I keep The OG, containing the soothing essences of Lavender, Patchouli and Citrus, on my desk so that I can swipe a bit on the back my neck, my throat, or other pulse points, when I feel a bit of deadline-induced stress coming on, et voilà. I find the combined aroma of these three scents to be very calming. The OG and other balms sells for just  $26.00 each (Crystal Balms are $28.00 each), and last a very long time!
