Worleygig Avatar By The Fabulous Dean “Dino” Haspiel
Holy Mother of God, can you even believe I’ve been writing Worleygig Dot Com, the world’s Raddest Blog, for fifteen solid years without stopping? It really is unbelievable: and yet, it is true. It was fifteen years ago today that The Worley Gig found its permanent home at this here domain, after first originating in print as a regular column in the East Village-based monthly arts and entertainment publication, The New York Hangover, and later moving on to great success at Pandemonium Online, followed by a few years of breaking new ground at Starpolish. What a long, strange trip it’s been.
All of these outlets are gone now, but The Gig Lives On! Why do I do it? Why do I continue to bring you the best of the New York City Art Scene, Rad Design, Music Video Clips that do not suck, awesome Food Adventures, Pop Culture from around the globe, the occasional Bacon thing, plus a brand new Pink Thing of the Dayevery single Friday like clockwork? I do it because I love writing this blog, and I love all of you for taking this journey with me!
Please follow us on Instagram at @gailpink61 for daily reminders to get your ass over here and discover what we’re up to and, and to say hello. Thanks as always for your continued readership!
Hey Bitches, guess what day it is? That’s right, it June 10th! But also, it’s exactly Fourteen Years since we started this ass-kicking blog, and look where we are today! While much of our blogosphere competition has fallen away due to general apathy and lack of enthusiasm, the Worley Gig continues to rock hard enough to crack a skull: bringing you, our loyal Readers, all of your favorite new music video clips, modern art, rad design, food, humor, exclusive urban adventures and things that are pink – six days a week – wow!
If you dig The Gig, please tell all of your friends about us, and follow us on Instagram at @worleygigdotcom. Thank you for your love!
Hey and whats up. Today, June 10th, 2016, we are celebrating the joyous occasion that is Worley Gig Dot Com’s 13th Full Year on the Web! Yay! We could not have done without you, dear readers, so have please some cake and a cocktail today, in honor of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration! And please leave The Gig some love in the comments!
Greetings friends and fiends. You may have noticed that we underwent a facelift over the weekend. What you see now is leaner, meaner Gig where we will bring you even more rad Pop Culture Happenings, News and Event Reports in a virtual environment with much less clunk in the trunk.
Many of the old dead service pages that nobody ever looked at have been eliminated and I am in the process of updating the Interview archives for your perusal. Oh, the Radness.
Worley Gig is now hosted by WordPress, having escaped the tyranny of our former Hostage Company, so you should no longer experience any messages that the site is down, as had been the case with our former host. Special thanks to Ian Koss for the new site design and supervision of the move.
Worley Gig Dot Com Turns Ten in June, so stay tuned for more good times ahead and thanks for your readership!
Please become a fan on FaceBook if you aren’t already and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram!
Amid a flurry of recent activity that included parties, restaurant reviews, film screenings, concerts, art openings, cruise-planning and Bar Mitzvah Palooza, we totally forgot to celebrate Worley Gig Dot Com’s Ninth Birthday, which happened on June 10th, 2012! As always, we are thanking our loyal readership, which keeps this blog alive with a hot buzz across the interwebs and crazy global traffic for a site that is basically just a little indie blog about Rad Things we love! Worleygig’s 9th year saw our first prize give-aways and you can expect more contests in the coming year – because we love our readers! Please remember that you can keep up to date with the blog by following us on Twitter and “Like”-ing our Face Book Fan Page. You can also follow Worleygig.com on Networked Blogs, where we are among the Top Ten Pop Culture blogs on the entire Internet! Today, June 10th, 2011, Worleygig.com celebrates 8 Rad Years on the Interwebs! This past year has been a particularly fantastic year of growth at The ‘Gig, with the NeatoHub affiliation, FaceBook’s Networked Blogs, and optimized SEO bringing in thousands of new readers. As Worleygig.com branches out from being primarily a music blog to covering more of the Art scene here in NYC and elsewhere, we hope you’ll keep coming back daily for the Pop Culture coverage, the Humor, the awesome food, movie and book reviews and, of course, all things Pink or made from Bacon. You can like this Blog on FaceBook by clicking on the widget on the lower right hand side of this page, or by visiting This Link. As always, immense gratitude to Ian Koss, the man behind the curtain who fixes all the little weird things that are beyond my web comprehension. And Big Thanks to all of my fans, friends and readers – both random and loyal – for your encouragement, tips, feedback and support of the blog! Eight more years!
If you live out on the West Coast or, even better, Hawaii, and haven’t yet managed to get yourself dressed and out of the house, I just wanted to give you a head’s up that today is Wear Purple Wednesday. Wear Purple Wednesday aims to raise awareness of Gay Rights by honoring recent gay teen suicides and hate crime victims that have made headlines in the past few weeks. Can you even imagine how much it would suck to not be able to be yourself out of intimidation or fear for your own safety? As author and sex advice columnist Dan Savage once wisely said, “Tolerating Others is the Price We Pay for Being Tolerated Ourselves.” So, remember the Golden Rule (Jesus said it), love your neighbor as you love yourself, and wear some purple today.
Wow, it’s hard to believe that Worleygig.com has been infecting the web with excessive Radness for five whole years as of June 10th, 2008! And yet, it’s true! Thanks to everybody who reads this thing for your support over the past half decade, and please be assured that we will continue to rock the party as best we can for another five decades into the future!
