OK, here’s a fun song by a band of British Ladies that I can just listen to over and over again. “Pull The Other One” from Londoners The Big Moon embraces a sassy-guitar-rock, Shirley Manson-fronting-Veruca Salt vibe that makes me wish the nineties had never ended, and that we didn’t have to deal with people trying to convince us all that Taylor Swift’s horrible ear garbage is somehow “good music.” Kill me.
The Big Moon’s video for “Pull The Other One” was filmed on a day off during the bands’ recent North American tour with Marika Hackman, who makes a cameo as the villain. In a Pink Panther-meets-Austin Powers search for their captured pup, The Big Moon take down Hackman using a fidget spinner as their weapon of choice, and are reunited with their beloved dog. “Pull the Other One” is from The Big Moon’s debut album, Love in the 4th Dimension, which is nominated for a Mercury Prize recognizing the best British album of the past year. I hope they win! Enjoy!
