This tiny Pink Wooden Toy Robot, complete with articulated joints, was discovered by me in a box of stuff left for the taking on the top of the recycling bins in front of my apartment building. He was quickly rescued, given a good scrubbing with some soap and water, and placed in a new home here in the Chickpad, where all pink things are welcome.

Kamala Harris As Fearless Girl By SacSix

Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris is the latest public figure to be transformed into street art by artist Sacsix, who recently did a fantastic job on Dr. Fauci. In his latest iteration, SacSix channels Harris’s inner Fearless Girl for a winning mash up. This paste-up is only few inches tall, so I had to really get down there to get the shot. Worth it. Good luck to Joe and Kamala in this race for our lives and our country’s future. I will be Voting Blue in November!

Hey guess what, Bitches? Flying Tiger has reopened their Manhattan-based stores and I could not be more excited to shop there once again! I happened to be uptown yesterday near 74th Street and Third Avenue and stopped into the store at that location hoping to find a Pink Thing or two for blog. Mission: accomplished!

Kids love to play with Slime, and Flying Tiger is currently selling Pink Slime in a Pink Pig-shaped container. Squeal.

I believe the “cloud” graphic on the packaging is meant to indicate that the slime is soft to the touch, and not that it farts or emits gas of any kind when poked with a finger. I neglected to note the price of this fun pink thing, but my guess would be that it sells for around $3.00.

Pink Thing of The Day: Nancy Pelosi Acton Figure in Pink Dress

The folks at FCTRY, who’ve been turning cultural and political icons into action figures since 2008, are adding a gorgeous Nancy Pelosi Acton Figure to their already impressive line of progressive heroes that includes RBG, Biden, AOCSanders and Hillary (which I own) among many others. Nancy is seen here rocking a hot Pink Dress (earning her the honor of being a Pink Thing of The Day), accessorized  with sensible white pumps, while she carries a white gavel in one hand, and Dump’s hideous wig in another (though I believe that is just a photo prop)! Nancy’s incredible likeness was sculpted by Seattle-based artist Michael Leavitt, whose work you have seen on the blog many times. He is so talented! While FCTRY prepares Nancy’s Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for her series, you can help spread the word about this project and possibly earn a free action figure. To find out how to get a free Nancy Pelosi Action Figure, please click Here, then scroll down to the Quid Pro Quo section. Can’t wait to own this lovely and powerful lady!

Yoshikitty Defeats Hello Kitty To Win #1 In France, Germany, And Brazil, #2 China, And #6 Worldwide

In 2020 Sanrio Character Ranking.

Here’s a bit of global news that will surely take your mind off the current troubling state the world, especially in you ar a fan of Japanese Rock Star Yoshiki and also Hello Kitty. The final results of the 2020 Sanrio Character Ranking (yes, it is a thing) were announced in early June and Yoshikitty has defeated Hello Kitty to win #1 Sanrio character in France, Germany, and Brazil, as well as, #2 in China. This is obviously a BFD. The Sanrio Character Ranking competition grows more intense every year, and the 2020 event allowed fans from all over the world to vote on a selection of Sanrio’s 80 most-popular characters. Yoshikitty’s massive international support brought the beloved character to #6 worldwide overall, placing in the Top 10 for the fifth straight year in a row. To view the full Sanrio Character Ranking voting results of the 80 characters, visit: This Link!

Based on Yoshiki, rock star, composer and the leader of heavy metal superstars  X JapanYoshikitty was created in 2009 by the original Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi as the first Hello Kitty character to be modeled after an actual living person.  Did your head just explode yet? Because mine did.

Yoshiki (who is a babe) commented, “Thanks to everyone who voted for Yoshikitty. I’m so happy to see the support from fans not just in Japan but also from around the world.” Yoshiki, who composed the official theme song for Hello Kitty, teased fans with the idea that “Maybe I’ll compose a theme song for Yoshikitty to say ‘thank you’ for all the support. Not only that, I would like to continue delivering wonderful music, so that I can give back to everyone as much as possible.”

Squee.

Pink Thing of The Day: Andy Warhol Barbie with Pink Fur Stole

In March of 2019, I attended a fun event-thing called the Barbie 60th Anniversary Pop-Up Experience, which was just insane. Imagine being wedged into a crowded labyrinth of bright lights, neon colors, and every type of Barbie-branded doll in the universe, including Gender-Nonconforming Barbie and Dad-Bod Ken. Now, add little kids with their parents, and millennial Instagram-whores, and you’re got an idea of the scenario that I consider myself lucky to have survived with my sanity intact. Still: super fun!

While I saw literally hundreds of Barbies that day, the one that I will surely never forget is this Pink Mink Stole-draped plastic goddess known as the Andy Warhol Barbie. Here’s why: this Barbie (the third such doll produced in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation) is the definitive celebration of Warhol, drawing inspiration from the original Warhol Barbie portrait created by the artist in 1986. Barbie’s strapless gown features a sweetheart neckline and an overall print of the Warhol Barbie Portrait (you can see a few details of Barbie’s face on the dress if you look closely at the above photo). Beyond the fabulous Pink faux fur stole with blue lining, the doll’s accessories also include blue pumps accented with glitter inspired by Warhol’s technique of “diamond dust” crushed glass on canvas, earrings, necklace, ring and doll stand. Rad.

Sadly I could not capture details of the glittery shoes, as Andy Warhol Barbie was encased in a vitrine, to protect her from molestation.  The statement to the left of Barbie’s face in the above photo reads as follows:

Andy Warhol made his mark by creating images of American icons. Barbie was added to the list when Warhol painted her in 1986. The first Barbie portrait was reportedly inspired by Warhol’s muse, Billy Boy, a jewelry designer and member of new York downtown scene in the 1980s, who owned a vast collection of Barbie dolls.

Pink Thing of The Day: Buff Monster’s Mister Melty Figure

Do you like Buff Monster? I sure do.  If you are familiar at all with this world-famous street artist’s extensive body of work, then you know that his key creation is Mr. Melty, which is an anthropomorphic ice cream cone. This Hot Pink version of Mister Melty was a limited edition that was selling in the Clutter Magazine booth at last years Five Points Festival for about $275, I think. That sounds like a big chunk of change, but consider that this piece is also a highly-collectible work of art, and, you know, it’s kind of a bargain. Plus: Pink.

I can’t help but wonder what decided the sad fate of this very fun-looking pink toy car, whose official name is the Disney Minnie Mouse Hot Rod Coupe Ride-On Toy by Kid Trax. While this polka dot marvel does not look terribly Hot Rod-like to me, it sure is a sweet ride. Let’s check it out!
