In case you’re feeling let down because you didn’t get your Harry Styles tickets (I feel you), here’s another possible way  to kick start your heart.  TidalWave Comics has just added singer and pop phenomenon Benson Boone to its long-running FAME comic book biography series, and the result is… not exactly what you’d expect. FAME: Benson Boone, released this past week (January 28th), tells the story of Boone’s meteoric rise to stardom — but does so in a Japanese anime–inspired style that gives the singer an unexpectedly intense edge.

The cover, illustrated by Pablo Martinena, presents a recognizable Boone: soulful, dramatic, and very much pop-star ready. Inside the book, however, things take a turn. The interior artwork by Lucy Fidelis leans hard into anime aesthetics, transforming Boone into a character who at times looks less like a chart-topping Gen-Z heartthrob and more like Freddie Mercury plotting a K Pop takeover. It’s unintentionally hilarious — and kind of wonderful.

Written by TidalWave publisher Darren G. Davis, the 22-page comic traces Boone’s journey from Monroe, Washington, to viral TikTok fame, his bold decision to step away from American Idol, and the success of breakout hits like “Ghost Town.” Splash pages and dynamic panels capture his fearless ambition and emotional honesty, even if his illustrated alter ego occasionally appears ready to monologue dramatically before taking over the music industry.

“We’ve found a real niche with our biography comics,” Davis says, noting the audience appetite for celebrity storytelling beyond superheroes and horror. And FAME: Benson Boone certainly delivers on that promise — offering an earnest, well-researched portrait of a young artist staying true to himself, albeit with a few extra villain-era cheekbones thrown in for good measure.

Available now in print and digital formats via major platforms including Amazon,  FAME: Benson Boone joins a lineup of music biographies that includes Rob Zombie, Harry Styles, Ariana Grande,  and others. Whether you’re a devoted fan or just curious to see Benson Boone reimagined as an anime anti-hero, this comic is a surprisingly entertaining addition to the pop-culture bookshelf.
