Street artist Jerkface first made his name with colorful murals that cleverly mash together beloved cartoon characters or place familiar pop culture icons in unexpected situations. Think Homer Simpson fused with SpongeBob SquarePants to create the delightfully absurd HomerBob. His work is humorous, nostalgic, and generally a little bit mischievous.
These days, Jerkface has successfully made the leap from the streets to the walls of Chelsea’s fine art galleries — and good for him! For this limited-edition print, the artist combines Charlie Brown’s faithful companion Snoopy with the iconic Pink Panther to create an adorable new hybrid simply called Poopy. With Snoopy’s unmistakable silhouette rendered entirely in shades of pink and topped off with the Pink Panther’s expressive yellow eyes, thick eyebrows, and whiskers the result is instantly recognizable and irresistibly fun.
If one Poopy isn’t enough, the work is also available in a monumental format large enough to dominate an entire wall. Honestly, I can’t think of a more cheerful way to brighten a room.
Photographed at Taglialatella Galleries on Tenth Avenue in Chelsea. If you’re tempted to add Poopy to your own collection, the gallery can provide purchasing information.
