I’ve done many interviews over the years, with the Screaming Trees, Tuatara, and now as a solo artist. Of all those done here in the US and overseas as well, I can honestly say that a Gail Worley interview is quite possibly the best in the business. Her style of conversation, rather than interrogation, is unique and refreshing. Gail’s research into the background of the artists she interviews is thorough, her questions relevant, and her personality engaging. Interviews are hard work but Gail makes it a very enjoyable experience indeed.
As a musician and a music journalist, I’ve been both interviewer and interviewee. For an interview to truly be of any value and interest, I find there must be a bond between the both parties. During my time with the Black Halos, I’ve been lucky enough to be interviewed twice by Gail Worley. I can truly state that she is a Rock ‘N’ Roller in every aspect, and she holds such unbridled passion for the music that I’ve kept the bondage between me and her sticky and tight. Gail Worley broke my journalistic cherry. She was the first writer to interview/write about my previous band, Thin Lizard Dawn. Although she has a vast knowledge of music, she manages to write from a true fan’s perspective. She even got me excited to listen to my own music! Never afraid to mince words or speak her mind, she is always honest in her critique of the music she reviews. What the industry needs is more writers like Gail.
The most amazing thing about Gail is that she really cares and takes an interest in the subjects that she writes about. She is passionate about life, music, friendship, and everything else that matters. Her interviews always captures more than what she is given in words. She is smart, witty, funny, entertaining, truthful and honest in her writing. Gail Worley is the best!
