Ventures’ Guitarist Bob Bogle Succumbs to Cancer at Age 75

The Ventures
“Walk Don’t Run”

This past Sunday, June 14th, Bob Bogle, guitarist for the legendary and wildly influential instrumental surf rock band The Ventures, passed away after a lengthy battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 75 years old. My friend and colleague Steve Stav, a truly marvelous writer, has posted a very personal remembrance of and fitting tribute to Bogle on his blog, Intermittent Signals, which you can read by following this link. RIP, Bob.

  1. Steve Stav’s blog is well worth reading. Great job of capturing the essence of the man behind the music.

  2. Gail, thanks for the link to Steve Stav’s story. Bob and Don were great guys. I got to see them at some place in Hollywood once, and then in Aldrich Park on campus. I can’t remember if it was called that back then. Those old videos of the band playing “Pipeline” on YouTube are always fun to watch.
