A Benefit For Injured NYC DJ Jonathan Toubin, January 12, 2012!

Jonathan Toubin Benefit Poster

On Thursday, January 12th, Music Hall of Williamsburg will host a benefit for Jonathan Toubin, DJ and conductor of New York Night Train, who is still hospitalized in Portland, Oregon after becoming the victim of a freak accident on December 8th, 2011, in which a taxi crashed into his hotel room and landed on top of him while he slept.  Toubin remains in critical condition in the hospital’s ICU, but is currently stable and has made significant strides in his recovery in the last several days.

Offering an update on Jonathan’s current condition, a post at I Heart JT Dot Com is very encouraging, as follows:

[Jonathan’s] bone fractures are beginning to heal, and his other injuries are improving. The wounds from the broken glass are also starting to heal. He shows no signs of any infection other than in his lungs, and that is better.  He is sedated against the pain and has periods of consciousness during which he is able to move his head and limbs and can communicate with gestures and his eyes –- he even made a joke!  He is getting foot massages to help with circulation and swelling, and has begun some hand therapy. Today he had the endotracheal tube removed and replaced with a tracheotomy for the ventilator to assist with his breathing. All this is good and reassuring news that Jonathan is slowly on the road to recovery. He will remain in the ICU for a while yet before being moved to a room in another unit in the same hospital. Jonathan continues to need your love and positive energy for his recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts.

The January 12th, 2012 benefit will feature musical performances by Chain and the Gang, 5 Dollar Priest, Eleanor Friedberger, Nicole Atkins, Dorit Chrysler and Theremin, Shilpa Ray, An American Dream, and Two Tears as well DJs JG Thirlwell (Foetus/Manorexia), Jim Sclavunos (Bad Seeds/Grinderman/Silver Alert), and Mick Collins (Dirtbombs).

Raffle tickets will also be on sale at the event for a chance to win cool  prizes from Peter Luger, Ma Peche, Momofuku, Mikeys Hookup, Bar Centrale and Fox and Fawn.

Doors at 6.30 PM, Show starts at 7.30 PM sharp. Tickets are just $20 in advance or $25 at the door, or they can be purchased on line now at Musichallofwilliamsburg.com.

This will be a really fun evening and it is for such a good cause. You should come out, even if its freezing. If you can’t attend the show you can still help Jonathan by making a donation to his recovery fund at Paypal. Please direct your donation to ihearttoubin [at] gmail [dot] com.

  1. I’ve been dying to see Nicole Atkins for some time, but it’s hard for me to get to Brooklyn mid-week. Awesome cause though.

    1. Hi Nick – Thanks for commenting. You can still donate to Jonathan’s Get Well Fund via PayPal! — G xo
