Modern Art Monday Presents: Andy Warhol, Portrait of Keith Haring and Juan Dubose

In the 1980’s, Andy Warhol befriended several young artists of notoriety, including Keith Haring, with whom he also collaborated. Celebrated for his public and socially conscious art, Haring is pictured here with his then-boyfriend, DJ Juan Dubose. This portrait (1983) is rare, within Warhol’s oeuvre and in the visual culture of its time, in its depiction of intimacy between an interracial same-sex couple.

A Benefit For Injured NYC DJ Jonathan Toubin, January 12, 2012!

On Thursday, January 12th, Music Hall of Williamsburg will host a benefit for Jonathan Toubin, DJ and conductor of New York Night Train, who is still hospitalized in Portland, Oregon after becoming the victim of a freak accident on December 8th, 2011, in which a taxi crashed into his hotel room and landed on top of him while he slept.  Toubin remains in critical condition in the hospital’s ICU, but is currently stable and has made significant strides in his recovery in the last several days.
