Bentley

In ten years at the head of the company, W.O. Bentley has created a legend which, 100 years later, is still alive. The first Bentley appeared in 1919, but over the decades, living in the shadow of Rolls-Royce, the brand seemed doomed to disappear. Yet in 1982, the turbo model completely relaunched the brand, which in 1988 entered the bosom of the German Volkswagen group.

Jaguar

The Jaguar brand was born in 1945, but it was in the 1950s that Jaguar became famous thanks to the XK 120 model. It is the fastest car of the moment with peaks at nearly 200 km/h. Jaguar has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times in seven years! The company is now owned by the Indian manufacturer Tata Motors.

MG

This brand of cars was born in 1924 in Oxford. Both letters pay homage to Morris Garages, a dealership in the city. The English manufacturer, known for its sporty convertibles, almost disappeared completely in 2005 before being bought by a Chinese group: Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. Even today, we all turn around when passing the very beautiful MGBs, so rare.

Lotus

Lotus was founded in 1952 by automotive engineer Colin Chapman, who had already distinguished himself after the war by preparing Austin 7s for local competitions. Compact, light, and handy, these little sports cars were a great success. Chapman died of a heart attack in 1982 and from there, the brand notably passed into the hands of General Motors before being bought by Malaysian manufacturer Proton. The models also appear in many films including Pretty Woman. We all remember Richard Gere trying to master the gearbox of his Lotus Esprit.

McLaren

Formula 1 enthusiasts know this brand well since the British manufacturer shines on all the circuits of the globe. But the initial project comes from the stubbornness of a man, Bruce McLaren, who wanted to build his own road car, the fastest in the world. A project abandoned following his premature death. Never mind, the brand took a turn in 1989 under the impetus of Ron Dennis and sumptuous sports models were born, such as the McLaren P1 presented exclusively at the Paris Motor Show in 2012.
