Carbon dioxide (CO2) is essential for plant growth. During photosynthesis, plants use CO2, water, and light to produce sugars that fuel new leaves, stems, roots, and flowers. In an enclosed grow room, CO2 levels can fall as plants consume the available gas, potentially limiting photosynthesis when other growing conditions are favorable.
Supplementing CO2 can help plants grow faster and produce more biomass under the right conditions. However, adding more CO2 does not automatically improve plant health or increase yields. Light intensity, temperature, water, nutrients, and ventilation must all be managed appropriately. Continue reading CO2 for Grow Room: How to Use CO2 for Better Plant Growth
