OK, I know that Halloween happened over a week ago, and I was a big loser this year because not only did I not dress up but, in fact, I did not even leave my house. I mean, it was raining out, for chrissakes! But Lisa over at Skulls & Bacon has just put up a cool post full of pictures of people all decked out and feeling festive in their Bacon Halloween Costumes. And that makes me feel almost like I was there, wherever these people were. Thanks, Lisa!
On This Date, November 7th in 1979: The Damned released their amazing third album, Machine Gun Etiquette, which included the singles “Love Song,” “I Just Can’t Be Happy Today” and “Smash It Up (Part II).”Machine Gun Etiquette was the London band’s first album without founding guitarist Brian James. Captain Sensible moved from bass to guitar and Algy Ward (ex-The Saints) joined TheDamned as their new bassist. I actually saw The Damned on this tour in 1979, at the infamous Cuckoo’s Nest in Costa Mesa, California, and hung out with Damned drummer Rat Scabies for most of the evening. Machine Gun Etiquette refuses to sound dated even thirty years after its release, and is still one of my favorite albums, ever. Punk Rock! It is no secret that Michelle Obama, this country’s First Lady, kicks some serious ass. I just love her. If I had a daughter I would so totally be buying her this super stylish Michelle Obama action figure doll – which is 6″ tall and has six points of articulation – for the holidays. Always on the cutting edge of fashion, Michelle can be purchased in three different color dresses, including Purple, Black and White, and a Red and Black dress based on the unforgettable outfit Michelle wore on Election Night 2008 (I wish I had her upper arms)! Available from JailBreak Toys for only $12.99! Preorder now for shipping November 30th!
Wow, what a fantastic Christmas gift this would be for the Beatles fan in your life (hint hint)! Apple and EMI are cooperatively releasing this very unique Beatles inscribed, apple shaped 16GB flash drive with all 14 of the group’s released LPs plus 13 mini-documentary films! That’s just crazy! The Beatles’ music is included in both 24-bit 44.1Khz FLAC and 320 kbps MP3 format, and has, of course, been digitally remastered prior to encoding. The drive is also packed with album art and liner notes. OMG! Complete track listings can be found here.
