The Beatles’ “Ticket To Ride” Goes to Number One!

On This Date, May 22nd in 1965: The Beatles went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the eighth time with “Ticket to Ride”, which spent one week on top. “Ticket to Ride” was featured in The Beatles awesome movie Help!, which I saw for the first time when I was five years old, and which is still one of my favorite movies of all time! The Beatles!

  1. 23 days before I was born, but about the time I was expected, my mother was given a ride in our neighbors small Cessna airplane in the hopes that it would bring her into contractions. I didn’t realize that the date of this song’s release was at this period until reading this blog. I had always associated my birth date with the grand opening of the LSD shop on Haight Street, but probably would have been best to associate with this song and thinking about my mother’s plane trip.

  2. You know, I was listening to the radio the other day and a Beatles song came on…I found myself just marveling at the songwriting and vocal abilities of a group of guys who were so freakin’ young. I think the Beatles have become such an integral part of our lives that we sometimes forget how simply amazing it is that those four individuals found their way to each other and simply changed EVERYTHING. And they weren’t even 25 yet.
