Let’s be honest: no one likes to leave Manhattan. But it’s always worth a trip on the subway and a short walk through scenic Brooklyn to check out a new show at the MF Gallery. Owned and operated by super cool artist couple Martina and Frank Russo, MF specializes in art with an edge, and that is certainly apparent with their latest exhibit, entitled Stranamore – Italian for “Strange Love” – which opened last night.

“Cousin It’s Sister: The Stripper,” Ink Pen on Paper, Framed Cut Out, By Greg Maillard

Subtitled as “A Show of Deranged Erotic Art,” Stranamore gathers more than two dozen diverse works including a limited edition giclee from John John Jesse (still hot from his recent solo show at Soho’s Opera Gallery), Drawings by Kembra Pfahler of The Voluptuous Horror Of Karen Black, Classic Hustler Magazine cartoons by Dwaine Tinsley, Queer Punk Sculptures by Fernando Carpaneda, Horror Pinups by Greg Maillard, Psychedelic Chicks by Frank Russo, Perverse Drawings by Dave Brockie of GWAR and more deranged erotica by Jonathan Zeh, Riot Queer, Drew Maillard, Martina Secondo Russo and others.

As always, MF keeps the artwork affordable with many pieces selling in the $200 range. MF has also added an area at the back of the gallery where they display their art merchandise for sale, including original toys, T-shirts and Frank’s own line of Monster Faces Trading Cards. Very fun!
