When I was in San Diego on vacation this past summer, my friend and I would often pass this stunning mural that adorns the front of an apartment building in her neighborhood. After doing a bit of research, I discovered that the piece is by street artist Skye Walker, whose work I’ve seen previously while vacationing in Moab, Utah. This guy gets around.

In 2023, Walker was commissioned by Serenity Properties to create murals for three of their new residential developments. Along with this majestic Mountain Lion, rendered in soft pinks, greens and golden yellows, he also painted two other buildings — one featuring a Wolf, and another showcasing an Osprey.

You can see from this link that the murals were originally quite vibrant. Now, after two years of exposure to the California sun, their once-bright colors have mellowed and faded slightly. Still, the mountain lion remains breathtakingly beautiful — a piece that would stop anyone in their tracks and inspire a photo or two.
