“Ground Control to Major Tom…”

I’ve been seeing what I call the Hanging Astronaut for the past week, twice daily as I travel between my home on East 14th Street and Union Square on the way to and from the subway. As it turns out, the Hanging Astronaut is actually a work of sculpture/street art by artist Emil Alzamora entitled Retrograde.
