Minneapolis-based rock quartet Howler is the kind of band that gives me hope for the future of music, and that is just too rare these days. Melodic garage punk with a solid “Just Be Yourself” message is how I’d describe this outstanding track, “Don’t Wanna” from the band’s second album, World Of Joy (due for release on March 25, 2014). And while I’m sure this was entirely unintentional, this tune calls to mind a wildly nostalgic amalgam of The Las “There She Goes” and Barry McGuire’s “Eve of Destruction” that works aurally on every level.
