Holiday gift shopping was so much easier (and way more fun) when I was much younger and most of my friends could be counted on to like the same things I liked. Now, I don’t know what anybody wants or needs. And while it usually covers all of your bases, nothing says “I Put No Thought Into This” quite like giving a gift card. You might as well just give the person cash. Sure, there are exceptions: like if the card is from a very niche store they like, but regardless, you will get a much better reaction if you manage to find out they really want.
