Recommended Viewing: The Endless

If you’ve seen the two previous feature films by writer/director team Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, then you understand that these guys enjoy being meta. Both their 2013 breakout sci-fi flick, Resolution, and 2014’s body horror/romance, Spring include references to a common character (“Shitty Carl”) who is never seen onscreen, and the duo even appear together in one scene in Resolution. Impressively, their new film, The Endless, takes meta to a delightfully mind-bending level.

Matt Sorum, drummer for The Cult, Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver was born on this day, November 19th, in 1960. Older than me: yes! Speaking of Velvet Revolver, I’m reading this new book (just released November 10th) by Mary Forsberg Weiland – who I believe is in the process of becoming the ex-Mrs. Scott Weiland – called Fall To Pieces. Mary’s book is not just another Rock Wife Tells All piece of fluff.

An Interview with John Tempesta of Helmet

As one of the most popular and well-respected drummers in metal today, Helmet’s John Tempesta is a star on the rise. John started his career as the drum tech for Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, but he soon took the drum throne behind thrash metal legends, Exodus. John recorded three albums with Exodus before jumping ship to join Testament. But the gig that made him a household name was his tenure with Rob Zombie; first with White Zombie and, later, Zombie’s solo band. In 2004, John joined up with guitarist/ vocalist Page Hamilton to reform Helmet, one of the most highly influential metal groups of the ‘90s.
