I spotted this custom-painted van, proudly promoting Smirnoff’s new, limited edition Pink Lemonade Vodka, at the New York City Wine and Food Festival (NYCWFF)’s Grand Tasting. Of course, we had to investigate further.
Urbanimal is street artist from Brooklyn, NY who paints on vans, cars and trucks. His work is colorful, tribal, psychedelic and fun.
All of his projects have the Urbanimal tag somewhere on the body. Accept no substitutes.
This van was spotted on the downtown side of West 34th Street, not far from the Hudson Yards 7 Train Station.
When I was in California at Christmastime, a friend and I spent an afternoon visiting a few locations in Pasadena when you can see the Rose Parade floats in the process of being built. That was really fun and totally recommended! At one location, they also had booths set up where you could buy overpriced Rose Parade and Rose Bowl swag, and that’s where I saw this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Van!
Foot Stinks? I do not know what it means.
Apparently this Van is fan-owned and not affiliated with the Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon or any other official TMNT organizations. Find out more about the TMNT Van by visiting This Link!
I haven’t gotten around to seeing The Dark Knight yet because I am too busy having a life. I’m sure I’ll see it eventually, just like I finally got around to buying a cell phone two years ago. I hate to be one to hop on a trend too quickly.
But I was just surfing around the ‘Net, like I do for fun on a Friday nights, looking for something Batman-esque to post so I can drag some Batman freaks over to the site, and I found this post about Michael Ian Black’s new book, My Custom Van: And 50 Other Mind-Blowing Essays that Will Blow Your Mind All Over Your Face over on Good Reads. I decided to snag this Batman-related part of the post so I can steal some of their thunder. Thank you. You’re welcome.
Commentary stolen from Bestweekever.tv:
“What this van lacks in subtlety it more than makes up for in totally useless purple fiberglass appendages. This is the kind of van that says, “I probably won’t fit through the underpass.” On the other hand, it would be a perfect getaway vehicle for a bank job because nobody would think you would be stupid enough to rob a bank and then drive away in that thing. In case the van itself didn’t tell you the owner has a thing for Batman, the Batman decal on the side should clear up any confusion.”
