Sir Paul McCartney was born on this day, June 18th, in 1942. I know Paul has had at least one facelift in the past ten years (thank you) so he is still looking pretty good. But damn if he wasn’t just the cutest boy in the whole wide world back in 1966, when I was five years old and wanted to marry him and join The Beatles (I was an ambitious youngster).

On This Day, June 14th in 1965: Paul McCartney went into the studio for the first of two days to record “Yesterday,” which would become the most recorded song in history, with over 3,000 recorded covers of the song to date.
Wow, this video is so rad, it almost makes me wish I cared about video games. Almost.
On This Day, May 8th in 1970: The Beatles’ final album of original studio material, Let It Be was released. The Wikipedia has a decent historical overview on the album at this link, although it does not go into heavy enough detail about how Yoko Ono broke up the band.
London, England – April 7, 2009 – Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music are delighted to announce the release of the original Beatles catalog, which has been digitally re-mastered for the first time, for worldwide CD release on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (9-9-09), the same date as the release of the widely anticipated “The Beatles: Rock Band” video game. Each of the CDs is packaged with replicated original UK album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections will also be released.
