Former guitarist for the sixties’ pop band Grass Roots, Creed Bratton, was born on this day, February 8th in 1943! Creed can be seen in the video above for the Grass Roots’ awesome hit, “Midnight Confessions,” wearing a royal blue shirt, standing on the far left. These days, Creed is best known for playing a fictionalized version of himself, Dunder Mifflin customer service rep Creed Bratton, on NBC’s The Office. Happy Birthday Creed! With NBC’s wildly popular sitcom, The Office, now in its eighth season, only those living under rocks would deny that what started out as a two season, twelve episode series on the BBC has become one of the most successful sitcom franchises in TV history. The Office has been adapted for TV in France, Brazil and Russia, and last year, Israel also got into the act. HaMisrad (Hebrew for “The Office”) wrapped its first season in November 2010, and a second season is currently in production, but American audiences got a chance to see this hilarious show for the first time when it debuted this past weekend as part of the 5th Annual Other Israel Film Festival (running November 10-17) with a screening at NYC’s Cinema Village Theater on East 12th Street.

While it was once the case that people knew British actor and comedian Ricky Gervais mainly from his having created the wildly successful TV series, The Office, these days he’s something of a household name. Few would argue that Gervais has enjoyed an exponential increase in popularity these past few years; not only with commercially successful films like Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying but also via his TV shows such as HBO’s Extras and The Ricky Gervais Show, an animated series based on his hilarious podcasts. Here’s another awesome website discovery for fans of The Office: Serenity By Jan Candles. Operated secretly by NBC / Universal’s Merchandise Store, Serenity By Jan sells the same aromatherapy candles made by Michael Scott’s ex-boss and former lover, Jan Levinson Gould. The candles are sold in sets of four selected scents such as Merlot Morning (Merlot), Enchantmint (Peppermint), Hunter Green (Apple Spice) and Bottled Water (Cucumber/Melon) for what I’d say is a pretty reasonable price of just $15 per set.
