For those in-the-know about natural remedies, it’s no secret that the Elderberry plant has been called “nature’s medicine chest,” since its berries and flowers are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that may boost your immune system. Elderberry dietary supplements are available as gummies, lozenges, syrups and teas to help ease inflammation, lessen stress, improve heart health, and to prevent and mitigate cold and flu symptoms.  As we move through the pandemic, having a strong immune system is more important than ever. While researching elderberry supplements after recovering from Covid, I was introduced to Elderberry Immune Support from Good Made Great Foods, which makes adding an elderberry supplement to your wellness routine convenient and delicious.

Good Made Great (founded in 2018) was inspired to create a better elderberry product after years of making their own elderberry syrup at home.  The goal was to make a great-tasting elderberry drink that provided the same immune supporting properties as the syrup, but was also convenient, portable and sugar-free. After lots of research and taste testing, they launched their first product line, Elderberry Immune Support.

Elderberry Immune Support comes in two equally tasty flavors, Lemon and Spice, which can be mixed with water and enjoyed as a hot or cold tea beverage. Since it’s been very cold in NYC lately, I’ve been all about the hot tea option as a pleasant afternoon ritual.  The lemon flavor (which is my favorite) pairs a hint of bright citrus with the sweet and tart notes of elderberry, while the spice variety blends the flavors of cinnamon, ginger and clove with tart elderberry for a taste that reminds me fondly of mulled cider (I wish I’d had this on hand at the holidays).

My personal experience with this product is that the taste is very clean and pure, with no bitter, grassy, medicinal or ‘yeast-like’ under taste or aftertaste that can be present with many supplements.  There is also no need to add sweetener, as each ‘stick pack’ (as they are called) contains a blend of stevia, monk fruit and erythritol from Oobli instead of sugar, and there are no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.  Each serving is just 10 calories and, best of all, there is no messy tea bag to deal with! In addition to drinking the supplement as hot or iced tea, you can add it to oatmeal or other hot cereal, juice, yogurt, smoothies, or make an elderberry slushie with crushed ice! Use your imagination!

It’s so easy to give your immune system a helping hand, no matter the season, with Elderberry Immune Support‘s super concentrated amounts of 64:1 and 5:1 Black Elderberry Extract Powders, Vitamin C, Polyphenols, and Anthocyanins. Their elderberry stick packs have a higher concentration of active ingredients and less sugar than syrup or gummies. Recommend dosage is 2-3 stick packs per week for regular immune support. For intensive support, you can take up to 1 stick pack a day.
