Since my day gig moved offices from Wall Street to Columbus Circle, one of the best perks  — besides a close proximity to Central Park — is a huge increase in nearby lunch destinations. Just recently, I added a new place to my cache of favorites: Metro Marché, which just opened in March. I’ve already eaten there twice and I would advise you to forget any local deli, pizza place, or overhyped garbage like Sweet Green, because the food at Metro Marché is just insane.

Under the same ownership as Café Metro –Manhattan’s longest and oldest brand for lunch and catering — and Fresh & Co., Metro Marché‘s ambiance is a modern vibe with an innovative menu offering casual-style dining and catering. Located on one of the most exclusive streets in New York City, the restaurant offers sensible prices (for generous portions), and also sets itself apart from other fast-casual dining destinations with its delicious and high-quality ingredients, delivering healthy and wholesome made-to-order meals that feel just a little bit indulgent.

The restaurant serves up everyone’s favorites: breakfast staples, made-to-order salads, delicious soups, and a variety of unique sandwiches, but the difference is their attention to detail, offering something extra to keep you coming back.

The showstopper here is the Market Table – a solid selection of daily rotating gourmet inventive entrees and seasonal side dishes- all prepared-on premises using the freshest, top-quality ingredients.

mac and cheese

Guests can enjoy cleaner versions of popular comfort food and yes, there are many vegetarian and vegan options. “Grab n’ Go” or stay and  sit down to enjoy your home-made meal! Confession: I have ordered this divine Baked Macaroni Cheese on both visits! It is so good!

I’ve also had the fried chicken cutlet and roasted carrots pictured above — which were out of this world.

New Seasonal menu items include the following:

Ham & Gouda Sandwich: Crispy Onions, Pickles, Arugula, Gouda Cheese, Romesco Sauce on Focaccia

Adobo Steak Salad: Crispy Onions, Pico de Gallo, Avocado, Shaved Parmesan, Chipotle Caesar

Cauliflower Rice & Black Quinoa: New Seasonal Base for Market Table

Beet & Carrot Side Salad: Roasted Beets, Roasted Carrots, Feta Cheese, Red Onions, Cilantro, Agave, EVOO, Vinegar (I’ve had this side dish and it is beyond delicious).

Tofu: One of Metro Marché’s most popular protein options is the Tofu, delicately grilled and prepared often with an Asian-influenced seasoning; the marinade changes daily, allowing regulars to try different flavors of the Tofu, which is a bit crisp on the outside and tender and soft on the inside.

Aside from a huge variety of breakfast and lunch options,  Metro Marché offers a catering menu with endless selection possibilities for all events and group sizes —  working lunches, events, and meetings – with freshly made breakfast, sandwich platters, salads, daily market entrees, desserts, and much more.
