The only negative thing about walking by this colorful and quite monumental stacked sculpture in the Lincoln Center neighborhood this past week is that my photos were captured on an overcast day –which definitely does the sculpture a disservice.

This piece is the final structure in a series of public art installations entitled Sean Scully: Broadway Shuffle, and it went up over the weekend of September 21st. Entitled 48, this tower is 20 feet tall and is installed at Dante Park, located at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and 64th Street, right across from the Lincoln Center performing arts complex.
Sponsored by the Broadway Mall Association, the seven sculptures, which vary in size and color, are all located along the Broadway median between 64th Street and 167th Street. Sean Scully’s Broadway Shuffle series will be on public view through March of 2025.
