There are always many ‘Oh, Wow’ moments at the annual Salon Art + Design fair and the Duchess armchair, crafted in 2022 by Swiss designer Mattia Bonetti, certainly ranks among them. This gorgeous chair exemplifies Bonetti’s distinctive fusion of traditional and contemporary design elements. Drawing inspiration from 18th-century French furniture forms, the armchair exudes a regal and commanding presence.

This limited-edition piece is constructed with a bronze frame adorned with rose rock crystals, complemented by elegant upholstery. The dimensions of the armchair are approximately  40″ in height, 37″ length, and 36″ in depth. The edition is limited to 20 pieces, with an additional 2 prototypes and 2 artist proofs.

Bonetti’s creative process typically begins with free-hand sketches, which are then brought to life using a variety of materials, including bronze, rock crystal, and upholstery, as seen in the Duchess.

The Duchess armchair is available through the David Gill Gallery, a contemporary design and furniture gallery in London established in 1987.
