Just in time for peak summer vibes, Union Square has a new landmark that’s equal parts art and affirmation. Love Continuum (2024), a bold and brilliant public sculpture by London-based artist Yoni Alter, is currently turning heads — and perspectives — on University Place between 13th and 14th Streets.

At first glance, the 25-foot-long crimson squiggle might look like an abstract design. But take a few steps in the right direction, and the shape resolves into a perfectly aligned “LOVE.” It’s a delightful visual trick that challenges your point of view and rewards curiosity — kind of like love itself.

Installed in February 2025 and on view through late summer, the sculpture is part of a collaboration between the Union Square Partnership and NYC DOT Art. It’s meant to be playful and interactive, encouraging visitors to walk around, snap selfies, and share the love (literally and figuratively).

With its smart design, vibrant red hue  and feel-good message, Love Continuum is the perfect urban eye candy — made for exploration and Instagram alike. If you’re in NYC, don’t miss this chance to see LOVE from an entirely new angle.
