Currently on view at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles as part of Mr. Brainwash’s exuberant exhibition Cars Are Beautiful, Furry Fiat is exactly what its name promises. Created in 2024, this full-size Fiat is entirely covered in Plush Pink Fur, transforming an everyday automobile into a surreal, pop-inflected sculpture that blurs the line between car culture, fashion, and contemporary art.
Known for his playful mashups of street art, pop imagery, and spectacle, Mr. Brainwash treats the car not just as a machine but as a canvas. In Furry Fiat, softness replaces steel, glamour replaces grit, and pink becomes a bold, joyful statement rather than a decorative afterthought. Even the license plate gets the Mr. Brainwash treatment, emblazoned with his signature slogan: “Life Is Beautiful.”
With Mr. Brainwash’s Beverly Hills art museum now closed, the Petersen exhibition — scheduled to run through some time in 2026 — is currently the best place to experience his work up close. Whimsical, absurd, and oddly luxurious, Furry Fiat feels more cuddle-ready than road-ready, making it an irresistible choice for this week’s Pink Thing of the Day!
