Video Clip of The Week: Tough Age, “I Waste Too Much Time on Myself”

Wake Up! Who says that instrumental tracks have to be mellow?  Bah! Canadian garage rockers Tough Age know how to bring in a classic Psychobilly edge to propel the sonic locomotive that is “I Waste Too Much Time on Myself” — a song with no discernible vocals that manages to rock like a bastard while entertaining visually with ghostly images of figures performing martial arts moves, accompanied by instructional messages written in Japanese Kanji. Somehow, it all works!

Tough Age’s debut, self-titled LP is out now on Mint Records. Enjoy!

Video Clip of The Week: Weeknight, “Dark Light”

“Dark Light” by the brooding, soulful, electronic duo called Weeknight is like watching a complete film by David Lynch in under four minutes. Weeknight are Holly and Andy from NYC and they pull off the rare combination of pretty faces and real musical talent even when wearing glow-in-the-dark Day of The Dead/Corpse Paint. Weeknight will digitally release their debut album, Post-Everything on Artificial Records on March 4th, vinyl release date TBA. Pre-order the album at This Link Enjoy!

Video Clip of The Week: The Noise Figures, “Out of Your Mind”

Proving once again that you can make a big sound with just drums and guitar, The Noise Figures, a power duo from Athens, Greece, bring a sweet rockin’ groove to today’s Video Clip of The Week. I hear a Sixties-era, San Francisco/ Garage Rock vibe in this tune about losing one’s mind, and the band’s label, Inner ear Records, seems to concur. Video Clip of The Week: Metronomy, “I’m Aquarius”

As the Sun moves officially into the Sign of Aquarius on January 20th, it’s wildly appropriate to post this truly visually groundbreaking video for “I’m Aquarius” from Britain’s modern pop act, Metronomy. This song speaks to me on one level because I, too, am an Aquarius. But more than this very catchy song that reminds of me of something you might hear from MGMT or Beck, the video itself is just ridiculously great. It’s like Kubrick’s 2001: a Space Odyssey in a four minute video. Insane. “I’m Aquarius” is from Metronomy’s upcoming new album, Love Letters, which will be released on March 11th, 2014 on Elektra Records (Yeah, Baby!). Enjoy!

Video Clip of The Week: Band of Skulls, “Asleep At The Wheel”

You will probably agree that Band of Skulls is a thoroughly righteous band name, and for that reason alone they deserve to be featured as Worleygig.com’s Video Clip of The Week. Fortunately, their music sounds like a Brontosaurus stomping across a collection of the heaviest, most revered classic and psychedelic rock that schooled just about anyone who matters. Yeah, pretty cool. Band of Skulls’ new album, Himalayan, will be released April 1st (No Fooling), 2014, which seems pretty far away, but in the meantime, you can discover the band via this rad clip. Enjoy!
