Do you like Led Zeppelin? I sure do. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Queen are pretty much where it’s all at in the Holy Trinity of Rock & Roll as far as I’m concerned. And while there is always room for originality, even Kevin Parker of Tame Impala knows that if you’re going to borrow shit, you want to borrow from the best. This is why I have no problem with the completely obvious fact that Greta Van Fleet — which is a rock band comprised of four dudes: three of whom are brothers — sound pretty much just like Communication Breakdown-era Led Zeppelin on this week’s video clip, “Highway Tune.” Because, Led Zeppelin! It just does not get any better than that. Thank you, drive through.
“Highway Tune” can be found on Greta Van Fleet’s brand new four-song debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, which was just released this past Friday, April 21st, 2017 (on Lava Records). Enjoy!
This here is what you call a Guilty Pleasure, because while the song “Forever” is super groovy in an electronic-version-of-The Beatles kind of way, I also just like looking at this guy’s face. I enjoy watching him dip his arms shoulder-deep in black paint and fling it all over — sexy — and cavort with an antlered deer skull. Plus the cheesy Tron-esque video effects evoke a profoundly nostalgic feeling for that seriously underrated film. But mostly, it’s about his ridiculously kissable mouth. Painted Palms are the duo of cousins Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme (hot singer seen in above video), who collaborate across long distances and expand to a five-piece band for live shows. Worleygig.com votes them Band of The Year for 2014. No further applications for this title will be accepted.
“Forever” is taken from Painted Palms’ LP of the same name, which is out now and can be purchased at This Link. Enjoy!
