New U.S. Postage Stamps Honor American Minimalist Ellsworth Kelly
America artist Ellsworth Kelly (1923 – 2015), whose work I have often covered here on ‘The Gig, forged a distinctive style of abstraction over his seven decades as an artist. On May 31st, 2019 Kelly was commemorated with 10 U.S. Postal Service stamps highlighting his work. Amazing!

The U.S. Postal Service’s first scratch-and-sniff stamps will add the sweet scent of summer to letters of love, friendship, party invitations and other mailings when the Postal Service introduces the Frozen Treats Forever Stamps on June 20th, 2018 in Austin, TX. Video Clip of The Week: Painted Palms, “Forever”
This song here is what you call a Guilty Pleasure, because while the song “Forever” is super groovy in an electronic-version-of-The Beatles kind of way, I also just like looking at this guy’s face. I enjoy watching him dip his arms shoulder-deep in black paint and fling it all over — sexy — and cavort with an antlered deer skull. Remembering Glen Buxton
On This Date, October 19th, in 1997: Glen Buxton, guitarist for the original band called Alice Cooper died of complications from pneumonia in Mason City, IA. He was 49 years old. Glen played guitar on all of the original band albums including Love It To Death, Killer, School’s Out, Billion Dollar Babies and Muscle of Love. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked Buxton number 90 on its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. RIP Glen!
