“If it works, don’t fix it” is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot, and with good reason. It seems like as soon as you get comfortable with something, or figure out how it operates, it changes – and usually not for the better (see: FaceBook). Those who read this site regularly know that the Last Rites Gallery is my favorite art space in Manhattan. Also home to the tattoo studio of artist Paul Booth, visiting Last Rites has always felt like going to an art Theme Park or the abandoned set of a horror movie.

“They’re Coming to Get You, Barbara!”
Oh, this is so gross I can hardly look at it. But I know that Worley Gig readers love the Zombies, so I figured you guys would want to see this and possibly own it. They have lots of other cool Zombie stuff also like this Zombie Shadow Cast pictured below – which is really pretty cool – and a serious collection of hilarious Zombie Spoof Movie Posters. Must See Art: Tribute To The Haunted Mansion Group Art Show!
As a huge, geeky fan of Disney’s The Haunted Mansion ride and all folklore and legend surrounding it, I would literally die and come back from the dead to be able to see a group art show that opened this past Saturday in Los Angeles; A Tribute To The Haunted Mansion. Seriously, I can’t even live. This second annual group show, where artists interpret themes from the ride, features William Basso, Brian Boskind, The Creep, Curioddities, Dienzo, Asia De Vinyl, Frank Dietz, Darren Frydendall, Hideousboi, Noah K, Abigail Larson, Bob Lizarraga, Eric Pigors, Queenie, John Rozum, Bill Rude, Dan Szczepanski, Richard Terpstra and Zombienose among others. Judging from the video below, it looks totally amazing!

Last Rites Gallery Presents Lilith by Sarah Joncas
Towards the end of what had been a nearly-perfect day, filled with sunny weather, gallery hopping and parties of every sort, Geoffrey and I continued our revelry with a later-than-usual pit stop at one of our very favorite art spots, Last Rites Gallery, which was hosting an opening bash for their current exhibit by Toronto-based artist Sarah Joncas. While I was not familiar with Sarah’s body of work prior to attending the opening on Saturday night, I was blown away by the talent of this beautiful and highly prolific 24 year old painter.

Halloween Costume of The Year: Zombie McDonalds Employee!

“Will That McBrain Be For Here or To Go?”
Halloween may still be 9 months away, but I couldn’t resist giving kudos to a woman who gives the task of coming up with an original costume its due. Aside from the fact that her “blood-drenched cleavage” is the most eye-grabbing part of this photo (for some of us, anyway) you gotta appreciate the loving attention to detail she’s given her Zombie McDonalds Worker costume, from the authentic-looking “McDeath” logo embroidered on the cap to her tray of dismembered “Finger Fries” – she is dressed to kill, and then some!
Thanks To Great White Snark For The Tip!
