I’ve never seen one of these symbols in any colors other than white or blue, so of course this Pink Handicapped Accessible Sign caught my attention immediately. This symbol was spotted at The Ace Hotel on 29th Street just east of Broadway.

It’s entirely possible that you’ve lived your entire life without knowing that British Punk Rock Icon Billy Idol’s real name is William Broad. It is not exactly common knowledge. Similarly, I’ve worked in NYC’s Financial District for a decade without the knowledge that, just a few blocks from my day job, there is an intersection of the streets William and Broad, thus creating the unofficial Billy Idol Intersection!

November 24th, 2012 marks the 21st anniversary of the passing of Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury. An interesting way to honor Freddie’s enduring status as a Rock legend and Gay icon might be to purchase a limited edition print portrait of the Freddie Mercury Lego character seen above, which is being sold by Little Artists for the tidy sum of $436! Ten percent of the profits from each portrait sold will be donated to the Terrence Higgins Trust, one of Great Britain’s biggest sexual health organizations.
