Tucked beneath the sweeping concrete ramps of the San Diego–Coronado Bridge lies one of the most vibrant and meaningful outdoor art environments in the United States: Chicano Park. When I visited San Diego last summer, I made a stop at this remarkable site in the Varrio Logan neighborhood — and quickly realized that this wasn’t just a park. It’s a living canvas, a cultural landmark, and a powerful piece of community history all rolled into one.

While the park includes cultural centers and small museums, the true stars here are the murals — bold, colorful works of art that stretch across massive freeway pillars and underpasses. The scale alone is breathtaking. Towering concrete columns become storytelling surfaces filled with imagery celebrating heritage, identity, and resilience.

These dreamy Pink Plumeria Blossoms, their soft petals kissed by raindrops, were spotted in the tranquil Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Garden in Encinitas, California. The gentle sheen of moisture on their velvety surfaces made them look almost luminous — nature’s way of reminding us to pause, breathe, and admire simple beauty in bloom.

After doing a bit of research, I discovered that the piece is by street artist Skye Walker, whose work I’ve seen previously while vacationing in Moab, Utah. This guy gets around.

This Sand Shark (Attack) Bar Puzzle by Janet Hill Studio (via the New York Puzzle Company) turns beachside bliss into a hilarious scene of seaside peril. The 500-piece puzzle depicts a whimsical beach bar shaped like the gaping jaws of a Megalodon, where carefree cocktail drinkers lean against the counter while shark fins slice through the sand around unsuspecting sunbathers. Look closely and you’ll even spot the flailing legs of an unlucky diver half-buried in the background! Equal parts cheeky and charming, this one’s sure to make puzzle time a splash.

If you’ve ever been to New York or San Diego Comic-Con, you know the deal. The crowds are insane, the panels are packed, and the exclusives? Forget about it. But in the middle of all the madness, there’s one collectible that’s gotten hotter every year, custom enamel pins.

They’re small enough to fit in your pocket, flashy enough to cover your lanyard, and rare enough to send fans sprinting across the floor like it’s the 100-meter dash. At this point, Comic-Con pins are more than merch, they’re a badge of honor. Continue reading The Most Popular and Sought-After Comic-Con Pins
