Do you like Sharks? I sure do. That’s why I could. not. stop. taking photos of this life-size (read: humungous) model a prehistoric Megalodon Shark, which is a main attraction of the recently opened Sharks special exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in NYC. Here are some cool Megalodon facts I learned while exploring the exhibit.

I definitely feel for any business owner whose security gate gets tagged repeatedly. They aren’t easy to clean off, and most of the time the spray-painted tags are illegible and just plan ugly. The owners of Trinity Unisex Salon, located on 14th Street between Avenues B and C (cheap haircuts, ladies!) can take some comfort at least in the fact that their gate was tagged with a fun, hungry Shark, which in turn has supplied me with the image for this post. I’m all about finding a silver lining.

It’s obvious that this fun Shark paste-up by street artist Captain Eyeliner (@captain_eyeliner) has been out in the elements for a while, but I just noticed it while I was visiting Freeman Alley on my recent Birthday, and happened to walk west on Rivington toward Bowery instead on heading east towards Chrystie, which is my usual route. The message of Smash the Patriarchy, featuring an engaging image of Uncle Sam as a hungry Shark is both powerful and timely. A bit of research on Captain Eyeliner’s Instagram tells me this campaign is from 2019. Glad to see it has survived. Shark Attack on the Patriarchy, Bitches!
