If you’ve walked into a Day Spa, a New Age book shop, or Asian Imports store, you might associate the memory with the calming aroma of essential oils. It’s no mystery why Aromatherapy  — a range of alternative or complementary therapies that use essential oils and other aromatic plant compounds — is so popular. Everyone loves an inviting scent,  and it’s easy to create a relaxing atmosphere in your home using incense, candles or an essential oil diffuser.  But sometimes you might want your aromatherapy to be a bit more personal and portable.  For those occasions, let me introduce you to Mood Food.

How cute is this little felted Taco with a Mustache tree ornament? Answer: so darn cute. Let us make him the official Worleygig mascot of Taco Tuesday, shall we?  Sure, why not. This festive little guy was spotted by me a few weeks back at NY Now summer marketplace in the booth for Ornaments 4 Orphans, a for-profit, fair trade social enterprise dedicated to providing critical support for orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. They use ethical and sustainable business practices, create jobs, fight poverty, preserve intact families, empower communities, and ultimately prevent children from becoming orphans. You can browse their huge selection of beautiful, hand-crafted ornaments, and do a bit of early holiday shopping for a good cause, at This Link!

There’s Tiki Bar up the block from me that has a row of little solar-powered Hula Dancer figures lined up in the front window, and the sunlight makes them dance tirelessly each day until it sets; so enchanting. And so it is with the Waving Queen Liz  I saw at the recent NY Now Summer Marketplace.  This Solar Queen greets you with a subtle twist of the wrist if you just expose her to lamplight (no sun needed)! Best of all, she may arrive dressed in Pink!

My family has not always been the most in-tune with my personal tastes when choosing Birthday and Holiday gifts, so I got in the habit of asking them to get me cute socks. This is why my sock  drawer is stuffed to near-overflowing with enough cute socks to cover the feet of a small army. Truth be told, every pair gets worn eventually, because socks are one of the most perfect gifts you can receive.  Two guys who are also hip to that fact are the ones who created the Sock Card from InStitches.

These colorful Members Only (nudge nudge wink wink) “Swizzle sticks that arrouse (sic) any drink” were spotted by me at NY Now summer market at Javits Center. I daresay they  give the expression  “stiff drink” a whole new meaning — and they don’t call it a  cocktail for nothing!
