This Mirrored Mosaic Buddha statue was spotted sitting serenely in the front window of Pylones gift shop located on Spring Street just West of Lafayette, in NYC.
The BRIT Award statue designed by British artist Damien Hirst has been revealed for the first time today (January 10). Hirst is the third iconic British artist to be let loose on the BRIT statue, following fashion designer Vivienne Westwood in 2011 and Sergeant Pepper artist Peter Blake last year. Hirst has adorned the statue with his trademark spot painting aesthetic. You can see a larger image of the statue below. Our first post-Sandy art excursion turned out to be the party of the week, as modern/contemporary painter Mark Kostabi debuted a series of colorful new works at the Martin Lawrence Galleries in Soho. The red wine flowed freely (more about that later) last evening, as the gallery quickly filled with friends and fans of Kostabi, all excited to see the artist’s latest series of visually engaging paintings done in his signature style.
