Harvey Korman and Fellow Carol Burnett Show Cast Mate, Tim Conway
Death sure is having a field day just lately. Yesterday, actor and legendary funny man Harvey Korman passed away at the age of 81, following a complication with an aneurysm four months ago. I used to watch Korman on The Carol Burnett Show when I was growing up, and he was beyond hilarious. He also voiced the alien character The Great Gazoo on The Flintstones. He rocked.

Composer Alexander “Sandy” Courage, who wrote the original Star Trek theme music (which I am now humming in my head) has passed away at the age of 88.
Martin Axenrot knew he had big shoes to fill when he was called on to sit in for Opeth’s long time drummer Martin Lopez, who had become ill and was unable to tour with the group. After completing five tours with the titans of Swedish metal, Axenrot became a full member of Opeth in the spring of 2006. Being a fan of many styles of music, Martin never had any difficulty adapting his playing style to authentically replicate Opeth’s music live, but he did feel challenged when it came time to enter the studio to record the band’s latest masterpiece, Watershed. But judging by his fantastic performance – a brilliant mix of blast beats and precise double bass offset by impressive prog rock chops – captured on what everyone from the band’s rabid fans to Opeth founder, singer/guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt is calling the group’s best effort, Axenrot had no need to worry.

Lisa Stays and Spike Goes: So Not Fair
I’m quite certain that I’m far from the only one who wanted to call “Foul!” at the conclusion of last night’s Top Chef, when Spike was eliminated over Lisa. I mean WTF? Lisa rightfully earned a place in the bottom group on nearly every challenge and, while Spike had a few stumbles, he is clearly the superior chef – and a better sport too, if you ask me. Although, now that I am thinking about it he did pull that passive aggressive “Bread, lettuce and tomato” snafu over his competitors during the “To Protect and To Serve” episode a few weeks back. That was kind of a dick move, actually. But anyway, except for Lisa I’m happy with having Richard, Antonia and Stephanie (my fave to win) in the finals. I can’t wait for the reunion show (hopefully next week?) to hear all the shit talk that goes down!
In other culinary news, I had one of those new Supreme BLT Chicken Sandwiches (crispy style) for lunch at McDonalds and it was fucking awesome.
