I guess it’s been a long time since I strolled around Sixth Avenue in Midtown, because I only just saw La Gran Manzana (The Big Apple) a very eye-catching public sculpture by Mexican artist Enrique Cabrera, which has apparently been on view since last December. Doh!
La Gran Manzana is the first official Apple sculpture ever installed in the City for which it is named. As you can see, the apple pays homage to the cubist style and has a very shiny red surface — great for selfies and souvenir holiday snaps!
La Gran Manzana is sponsored by Mitsui Fudosan America Inc., one of the most important real estate developers in the country. Check it out while you can, because it’s only up until September 7th, 2023!
La Gran Manzana is located in front of the fountains at 1251 Avenue of the Americas, NYC (across the street from and slightly south of Radio City Music Hall).
