In 2021, Spike Lee made cinematic history as the first Black president of the Cannes Film Festival jury. He collaborated with Louis Vuitton’s first Black artistic director, Virgil Abloh, to create a wardrobe for the occasion.
For the opening event, Lee wore this double breasted-suit in Fuchsia, his mother Jacquelyn Shelton Lee’s favorite color, along with custom Air Jordan 1 sneakers gifted to him by Michael Jordan and Nike, a nod to the director’s long-standing connection with the brand. The ensemble — which includes a bespoke Basketball shoulder back designed by Abloh — demonstrates Lee’s love of bold, dynamic design and support of Black creatives
