At this year’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), one of the softest and most dreamlike lighting designs I encountered was the Eos Sante table lamp by Umage. The lamp combines a slender, almost impossibly delicate stem with a broad circular base, creating a silhouette that feels both airy and grounded. But the real showstopper is the shade — a voluminous cloud of feathers that immediately brought to mind the puffball top of a dandelion moments before it drifts into the wind.
This color is called Light Rose, a shade that glowed with the gentlest pink illumination, casting a warm blush of light that felt both glamorous and comforting. The feathered surface gives the lamp a floating quality, almost as though it is hovering rather than resting on a table. While the Eos Sante comes in a range of colors, this pale pink variation was especially enchanting and easily one of my favorite lighting moments from the fair.
Of course, anyone living in Manhattan knows that beauty often comes with practical concerns — namely dust. When I asked the gentlemen working the booth how owners keep the feather shade looking fresh, they assured me it was surprisingly low maintenance. According to him, most people simply shake the lamp lightly or blow on it to remove debris. Honestly, that sounds far preferable to dismantling an elaborate shade for cleaning.
The Eos Sante manages to feel whimsical without crossing into novelty territory, which is not always easy with feathered décor. Instead, it lands somewhere between Scandinavian minimalism and old Hollywood fantasy — soft, sculptural, and quietly theatrical. The lamp is currently on sale for $373.50 through 2Modern at This Link.
