For Ridley Scott’s 1982 movie Blade Runner, filmmakers called upon concept artist Syd Mead to imagine the dystopian world of 2019 Los Angeles. In the science-fiction film, Rick Deckard, (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD officer of the Blade Runner unit, is assigned to track down bioengineered humanoids called replicants. Deckard’s personal vehicle is Police Sedan Number 56, a “spinner” that has been decommissioned and stripped of its ability to fly. (Angelinos: tell me that doesn’t remind you just a bit of a self-driving WayMo).

This custom picture vehicle was built by noted Hollywood car customizer Gene Winfield to reflect Mead’s original design for the Deckard Sedan. Its dramatic wedge profile reflects the styling of supercars popular at the time.

The vehicle’s  guard wheels and impact bumpers were envisioned to accommodate the ground traffic of a highly populated 2019 Los Angeles.
