Farro is an ancient whole wheat grain that, along with grains like Quinoa, is enjoying a rise in popularity (although it’s been around for thousands of years). Not only does Farro taste great — it’s also very good for your health; being an excellent source of fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Before it’s cooked, Farro looks similar to wheat berries, but afterward it looks similar to barley. It’s a small, light-brown grain with a noticeable outer layer of bran. Farro is loved for its nutty flavor and unique, chewy texture.
Do you have a favorite snack that tastes so delicious, you literally cannot believe how good it is? And maybe you buy a bag of that snack, and sit with the entire bag in your lap and just eat and eat until there’s nothing left in the bag except crumbs, but then you pour the crumbs out of the bag into your hand and lick them off of your palm? Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.
As we become increasingly health conscious when it comes to dining out, the concept of fast food that can be prepared on-demand from fresh ingredients has been popularized by chains like Chipotle, and Moe’s, among others. It’s no accident that these restaurants feature southwestern flavors, because — let’s face it — Mexican food is awesome, and the variety of preferred-ingredient combinations is almost endless. Who misses a Burger when you can do a Burrito Bowl dozens of different ways? What’s really fun and exciting for a foodie like me is to see the Chipotle model emulated to expand beyond Mexican into tasty Mediterranean and Latin cuisines. Recently, I was invited to visit Cocina Del Sur, a midtown fast-casual restaurant specializing in Latin dining that is both healthy and indulgent. Let’s check it out!
Hey, do you like Burritos? I sure do. One of my favorite places to get a fresh and tasty Burrito here in Manhattan is Moe’s Southwest Grill, where they have a maverick, Rock & Roll attitude to go with their amazing Mexican food. You don’t have to sell me on how good it is; I’ve tasted it! And just last week, I was invited to dine in a mobile Moe’s restaurant-on-wheels as part of their limited-time promotion, Tour de Burrito, which was due to make a two-day stop in downtown NYC on the way to its final destination in Tampa, FL. Oh Boy! Continue reading Moe’s Tour de Burrito Comes to Manhattan!→
Working peeps know this much: buying lunch in the office cafeteria, or out on the street, provides you with a greater variety of tasty meal choices, but it can get pricey over the course of a week. The thing is, bringing lunch from home isn’t always an enticing option for those of us who don’t cook, and who don’t want to be stuck with a boring sandwich every day. We all want good taste and variety, but we want to save a little cash also. This is where So Right’s recently introduced line of single-serve frozen entrees comes in!
